I would like to personally acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-worrung people of the Kulin nation, as the traditional and ongoing custodians of the lands and waters on which I live, work, raise my family and enjoy life on.

I personally feel deep respect and gratitude for their custodianship and the role they play in both the physical and spiritual aspects of the care and nurture of this land. I’m so grateful to the past and present Elders of this place for their wisdom and sharing their knowledge with future generations, so it can be preserved and we can continue to care for the land. I love sharing the beautiful waterways and parklands with my daughters and teaching them to respect and care for the land also.

As Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures have sat in circle and shared women’s business for thousands of years, I value these practices and hope that Strength In Mothers can provide a similar restorative experience for mothers from all cultural backgrounds. I believe that mothers are stronger together and we learn so much from sharing our experiences and knowledge. We are also stronger as a community when we embrace and learn from each other’s cultures. I believe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures should be valued and celebrated.

This land was stolen and I acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
